¿Por qué se interesa Leonardo DiCaprio en los diamantes ecológicos?

The actor of countless blockbusters, Leonardo DiCaprio, always keeps the environment and the creation of sustainable energies in mind.

That is why for years he has been one of the largest investors in Diamond Foundry, an American company that creates ethical lab diamonds.

The work of Diamond Foundry and Leonardo DiCaprio

The goal of Diamond Foundry has always been to supply the diamond market with sustainable stones to put an end to diamond mining, achieving zero carbon emissions, avoiding the displacement of families, child exploitation, and irreversible damage to the planet.

In 2012, they managed to mimic the conditions inside the Earth in their plasma reactor, which at high temperatures and pressure levels, managed to crystallize pure carbon to obtain a real diamond, and much better, ecological, just like the laboratories from where David Locco's diamonds come. They mainly direct their production to industrial use, as diamond is the best energy conductor that exists, as seen by Nano Diamond Battery, the company that has created a battery of unlimited duration, but they also make their minerals available for high jewelry.

Since his role as Danny Archer in Blood Diamond (2006), DiCaprio became interested in the creation of ethical diamonds, that would not stain the hands of the luxury industry, and that above all, would save the suffering of millions of people affected by mining and the agonizing planet.

Later, during the filming of The Revenant (2015), the entire crew had to move to the southernmost part of the world, in search of snow. This situation impacted the Hollywood actor, who saw the devastating effects of large industries on the environment, and decided to dedicate himself to activism and ecology. In fact, at the Oscar gala where he was awarded the best actor award for his role in The Revenant, Leonardo dedicated the final part of his speech to making a call to action, a cry for help from the Earth.

For all this, Leonardo DiCaprio decided to invest in the company Diamond Foundry, becoming one of its largest investors and activists.

In addition, in 2016 his documentary Before It's Too Late (Before the Flood), premiered, in which his team and he visited different places around the world, such as Greenland, to highlight the serious climate crisis and its most direct consequences.

The “boom” of Diamond Foundry in Trujillo, Extremadura

For some time now, the intention of Diamond Foundry to open a factory (or rather laboratory) of enormous dimensions in a town in Spain, specifically Trujillo, which is located in the autonomous community of Extremadura, has reached the public. This project, in addition to generating ethical diamonds in Europe to facilitate their shipment to different destinations on the continent, will also create hundreds of jobs for the Trujillo population.

This factory will not only be dedicated to the production of ecological diamonds, but will also be powered by renewable energies such as photovoltaic solar, guaranteeing its zero emissions policy. A true modernization of the luxury industry in Europe.

The actor of Jack in Titanic is a great lover of the environment and Spanish culture. He often spends summers in Mallorca, and has visited the capital more than once. Although his intention to visit the diamond laboratory in Trujillo is not clear, with a determination so linked to sustainability and the ecological world, it would not be strange to see him alongside the Extremadura workers.

The same dream that drives DiCaprio is what has been driving David Locco since its foundation: to save the world. If the American actor decides to return to Madrid, the Atelier de David Locco would open its doors and proposals to help the planet.
