Beauty and Violence ('La belleza y la violencia') (2019): a collaboration between David Locco and the contemporary artist Ernesto Artillo.
Its inspiration is the paradox between the beauty of luxury and the past conditions for the extraction of mined diamonds, drawing on the history of blood diamonds in the Sierra Leone war and reinventing the meaning of luxury with lab grown diamonds.
This work of Ernesto Artillo's ingenuity takes the dichotomy between beauty and violence, choosing weapons and bodies as muses to bring forth a visceral collection, full of strength with its striking statements. With the recreation of iconic images such as the Pietà, Beauty and Violence transmits a message as powerful as it is important.
